In April 2008, 59 patients received free consultations for cleft
lip, palate and other plastic surgery deformities in Sana ,Socotra
and Mukalla. Fifteen patients with cleft lip,palate,burns and other
deformties were operated from April 17-20 at the Hadibo hospital
in Socotra. Some basic lessons in anesthesia were given to the
local staff.
In Mukalla , an additional 9 patients were screened
for various deformities and two difficult cases were operated upon
successfully.

Some local surgery trainees attended the camps
as observers and also for hands on training in cleft, aesthetic and
burns surgery.
The camps were received very warmly by the local Arab families
and communities and many patients requested the team to visit them
again and help them with their plastic surgery problems.
