Taiz Karama Cleft Camp February 2010
|
A three day consultation and surgery camp was
conducted at the Taiz Karama hospital. Thirty five patients with
various cleft and craniofacial deformities attended the free smile
camp sponsored by the Smile Train USA and Yemen Smile cleft
programmes.
|

Altogether twenty one cleft lip patients and one patient with
congenital ptosis were successfully operated.
The rest of the patients were either referred to
the Jibla hospital camp on the 5th of March or asked to return for
the next Taiz camp on the 20th of March this year.

To improve the operation theatre of the charity programme at Karama
hospital, the Yemen Smile office will hand over a cautery machine
for the free cleft operations.
The machine was donated by some expat well wishers
in Sana’a a few years earlier for the cleft surgeries.
