Yarim Cleft Camp, April 2010

A free Yemen Smile/Smile Train USA cleft lip camp was held for 10 days from the 1st of April at Yarim hospital.

Over 75 patients came for consultations and 57 cleft lips were operated.One massive facial neurofibromatosis was reduced on a 12 year old boy.

All the patients did well postoperatively. The next camp will be held in about two weeks time since there are many more on the waiting list.

We would like to thank the Yemen mobile company for sending many sms messages to their subscribers. As a result many cleft patients could attend the camp.

Thanks also to the US embassy Sana and friends for all the support .

A free cleft lip treatment centre was established at Yarim hospital in April so that all Yemeni cleft patients can register for free treatment under the Smile Train USA and Yemen Smile project.

So far 107 cleft patients and two other patients have been treated successfully in the last two camps.
